The aim of the program is to provide quality health care services with affordable costs for the local people. At the same time the aim is to train the staff to become skilled health professionals by providing them with the opportunity to explore their knowledge and skills. With the training they will be able to contribute and to help the needy people of the society.


Volunteers will stay in the Kalanki hostel which is located nearby the hospital. It only takes 5 minutes to walk from the hostel to the hospital, so there will be no need to use public transportation to reach the hospital. 
You will be sharing a room with volunteers of other nationalities joining the same program. Lunch & dinner are provided at the hostel. Food is mainly local style, but  the hostel chef may serve different type of nepalese and indian food .The main types of food will be rice, lentil soup and vegetables but once a week there will be meat in your lunch or dinner. For vegetarians the choice is usually limited to rice, vegetables, lentil soup and pickles.

It is community based Hospital. All types of health care services are provided under one roof: diagnostic services, curative services, inpatient services and OPD services. All of treatment procedures are done by allopathic method and advanced technology are always used to conduct operations and other services .The hospital is mainly known for orthopedic surgery and physiotherapy services. But is capable of providing all types of services. There are 100 well aquippped hospital beds. It may not seem well organized to a foreign candidate, but this is due to the different ways of doing things in western counsties and developing countries. 


Volunteers interested to work in the health project should have some level of work experience in the health/medical sector. Only health professionals, medical students, nurses, and volunteers with similar experience are allowed to join the medical project. You must be able to present medical certification or an ID card which states that you are a medical student.

(Note: Because of risks involved, volunteers without medical credentials are not allowed to work in this program.)
