Centro de Estudios de la Mujer-Honduras, CEM-H (Centre of Women Studies-Honduras CEM-H) is a non-profit organization founded in 1987, as an independent cultural, social and political centre for women rights.

CEM-H's main aims are:

  • To reduce the inequality in the Honduran society
  • Promote the political participation of the Honduran women
  • Create strategies and take initiatives for the country to proceed in the creation of a gender as well as economical equality in the society
  • With democratic means, work to reduce the poverty and the violence that specially affects the women.


Living with a host family

  • Organize groups of both young and grown-up women for them to be able to change their own reality
  • Investigate the conditions and the advances of the Honduran women's situation and create a national awareness and consciousness
  • Conduct workshops to qualify women in various subjects, for example on women's rights, violence against women, health issues, VIH/AIDS, political participation and leadership
  • Through events, demonstrations and seminaries increase the consciousness and knowledge about feminism, women's rights and the inequality in the country.

  • Studies: It is preferable to have some kind of studies in social sciences, human rights or related subjects.
  • Abilities and Attitudes: A lot of initiative and own ideas. A great interest in women's rights.
