Heart Tokushima is an organization that works on building a comunity in which companion animals can live free from cruelty and suffering.

Heart was founded in 2006 by the Canadian Susan Mercer, with the long termn goal of developing an animal rescue center in Shikoku and decreasing the stray dogs and cats population through spay/neuter.

  • A Volunteer will share the volunteer house, and must cook for themselves.
  • Women usually stay with a host family

Activities on the project include rescue, care and rehoming of stray abandoned, abused and neglected animas. We also promote spay/neuter and responsible pet ownership through education and supportive means.

The volunteer has to be open minded and have a warm heart for pets.
