Inti Llacta Reserve- Imaymana Foundation

It is a project engaged with the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.

The foundation’s mission is to contribute to the maintenance and restoration of natural ecosystems, their resources and biodiversity for future generations, through the diffusion of productive activities that are compatible with nature; supporting values of social equity and respect for natural and cultural diversity.


Living in the project.
-The accommodations for the volunteers on the Reserve are cozy, rustic and have electricity.
-Group dormitory style rooms that share a bathroom (3 to 8 people).


The projects and activities are not only done within the Inti Llacta Reserve, volunteers also partake in activities that promote the social and economic development of the community, with the assistance of other organizations, Inti Llacta has begun developing agro forestry systems for organic coffee plantations with their neighbors in order to reach goals of sustainability and to create new economic alternatives that are also environmentally sustainable.

  • Strengthen the environmental consciousness of the participants (volunteers and the local community) and promote cultural exchange.
  • Enable the volunteers to participate in conservation activities by way of maintenance and administration of a protected area, in agreement with the principle of “experiential education”.
  • Develop the knowledge about the Chocó bioregion and its problems and promote conservation alternatives for the community.
  • Help in the socio-environmental development of the local community.
  • Support and strengthen the local social communitarian network through cultural exchange and participation on community works.
  • Implement and strengthen a new sustainable family development program through ecotourism, giving locals alternative economic ingress and serving as a model that can be replied on different regions of Ecuador.
  • Aid on conservation and restoration activities in the Chocó bioregion - one of the highest biodiversity spots on the planet.
